Many of them have been custom built exclusively for Rising Sun Kayak Adventures. These easy-to-maneuver boats have allowed us to paddle thousands of ocean miles in comfort. Our boats and all their associated equipment are included in the price of our day and multi-day trips and are also available to rent for personal use.

The waterways we paddle are a popular migration stop for some of the world's most impressive marine mammals. Each year, humpback, grey, and killer whales travel through our oceans on their natural migratory routes between the North Pacific and the Baja Peninsula. At Rising Sun, we have been spotting these whales since we started leading kayak trips in the early '90's. No matter how many whales we have spotted, we still get goosebumps each time we see the dorsal fin of an orca rise from the waters of the Johnstone Strait or a humpback whale breach in the waters off Vancouver Island's west coast. Year after year, we've had incredible success with whale sightings, especially on our Johnstone Strait trip. This passageway near the northern tip of Vancouver Island is home to the world's largest known orca pod and it is our pleasure to take in these magnificent creatures every summer!
