Launch Sites...Our trips launch from sites throughout the British Columbia Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island and the Sunshine. Below are links to maps from the starting destination of downtown Vancouver. We understand that getting to some of our more remote launch sites may pose a problem for those without access to a vehicle. If this is the case, please contact Rising Sun to hitch a ride!
DEEP COVEOur day trip and rental main location is on Dollarton Hwy in Deep Cove, North Vancouver. Link below for directions and a map to this location from assorted lower mainland locations.
VANCOUVER ISLAND LAUNCH SITESGetting to our Vancouver Island launch sites is never a boring drive. Our trips to Telegraph Cove, Tofino, Zeballos and Fair Harbour take us on the island's winding roads through old-growth forests. If you are coming from the B.C. Lower Mainland, you will need to take a ferry or float plane to get to the launch site. Click here for information on B.C. Ferries. Click for directions to TOFINO - Clayoquot Sound trip The road to Tofino is one of the best in B.C. After taking the ferry from Horseshoe Bay, it's a 270 km drive, partly through Pacific Rim National Park, to Tofino. From Nanaimo, head north on Hwy 19 to Qualicum where you take the well-marked Hwy 4 turnoff. Follow the Pacific Rim Hwy, (Hwy 4,) from Qualicum. Follow the signs as you head west through Port Alberni to the Pacific Rim Hwy. Click for directions to TELEGRAPH COVE - Johnstone Strait trip After taking the B.C. Ferry to Nanaimo, you will drive north on Hwy 19. Once you pass Campbell River (not a bad place to stop for lunch), it is about 125 km further north to a very small town called Woss. PAY ATTENTION TO THE HWY SIGNS. Continue past Woss for another 30 km to the well-marked turnoff to Telegraph Cove. If you reach Port McNeill, turn around, you've gone too far! Drive down the paved road until you reach a T-junction. Keep left onto the gravel road and follow the signs. At this point you are about 20 more minutes away. Click for directions to ZEBALLOS - Nootka Sound trip. To reach Zeballos from the Nanaimo ferry terminal, take Hwy 19 north.... once you pass Campbell River you will drive approximately 125 km to a TINY logging town called Woss. Paying attention to your hwy signs, continue past Woss for another 22 km to the well-marked Zeballos turnoff. From here, follow the gravel road for 41 kms to the town of Zeballos. You won't miss it! Click for directions to FAIR HARBOUR - Kyuquot Sound trip. Follow the above directions first to reach Zeballos. Zeballos will be the last place to purchase trip necessities so pick up anything you forgot here. From Zeballos, continue out of town on the gravel road towards Fair Harbour. It is another 32 km to the launch which is at the absolute end of the road. SUNSHINE COAST LAUNCH SITESWhile the Sunshine Coast is part of the British Columbia mainland, you still have to take a short ferry ride to get there. From Horseshoe Bay, you will be taking the ferry to Langdale. Click here to see the B.C. Ferries Horseshoe Bay/Langdale schedule. Click for directions to EGMONT - site for most Sunshine Coast trips Egmont is the staging ground for most of our kayak adventures on the Sunshine Coast and once you reach the Sunshine Coast on the ferry, it isn't hard to find. It's the northernmost town on the southern half of the Sunshine Coast... so when you get to the end of the road, you're there! From the B.C. Ferry terminal in Langdale you will drive north of Hwy 101.... just follow the road until you reach Egmont. Click for directions to SECHELT - Click for map - popular day trip launch site The directions to Sechelt are pretty much the same as those to Egmont but you don't have to drive as far. Sechelt is one of the Sunshine Coast's larger towns and you will know when you've arrived.
