About The Gulf Islands
The Gulf Islands are located in the Georgia Strait between Vancouver Island and mainland British Columbia's western coast. These islands have a uniquely warm, even Mediterranean climate, that has helped to form a different and intriguing ecosystem abundant with diverse plant and sea life. These islands are typically divided into the Northern and Southern Gulf Islands with the larger and well known northern islands being Denman, Hornby, Lasqueti and Texada Islands. The Southern Gulf Islands are Gabriola, Galiano, Kuper, Mayne, North Pender, South Pender, Saltspring, Saturna, Thetis and Valdes Islands.
